This week in my Education and Training class, we watched The Ron Clark Story. The main purpose of the movie was that this teacher named Ron Clark went to teach kids in New York City who didn't want to learn because of their circumstances at home. At the end of the year, his class got perfect scores on their tests and they achieved everything and more they wanted to achieve.
In this movie, he had many rules in his classroom posted around the room. Three of his rules that I thought were most important would be Rule 1, Rule 2, and Rule 26.
Rule 1 is basically saying that when you respond to someone to say "Yes ma'am" or "No Sir".
Rule 2 is saying that when you are talking to someone to make eye contact and keep eye contact throughout the whole conversation.
Rule 26 is saying that if in the lunch room someone wants to sit next to you, let them. We are a family and we need to act like a family.
In my future classroom, two rules that I think are very important to have would be:
1. If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all.
2. Treat someone how you would want to be treated.
Rules are very important in any circumstance if you want to get anywhere.
If you want more of Ron Clarks Book "The Essential 55", here is a link to his rules.
